The Genesis Trust
runs a range of services for the homeless and those on low
incomes within Bath and the surrounding area.
We aim to aid clients move towards greater independence,
improved quality of life and integration into the local
community through the following projects which provide free/low
cost food and furniture, and sustained support including
practical, emotional and spiritual help, guidance and information.
Genesis works very closely with local churches
who provide 500 volunteers and financial support.

THE
SOUP RUN
The Soup Run is open at 7pm seven days a week,
365 days a year in the Old Cattle Market, off Walcot Street,
in the centre of Bath, providing free coffee, soup and sandwiches
to 35 people a night. Each night of the week is run by a team
from a different church. People use the Soup Run for a variety
of reasons, because they are homeless, or have inadequate
kitchen facilities or their benefit has run out. The soup
run offers support, a point of contact and a social meeting
place. |

THE
WOOD WORKS
The
Wood Works offers placements to the long term unemployed
who repair and refurbish furniture donated to us by the
general public Trainees are offered on the job training
by Stephen Budd, the Workshop Manager and also an external
tutor provides Upholstery training one day a week. For a

GENESIS LUNCH
BOX
Genesis Lunch Box is open twice a week and
aims to provide a cheap lunch and peaceful sanctuary in the
hectic and chaotic lives that many Genesis clients lead. Lunch
Box runs on Mondays and Wednesdays at St Michael's Church
Crypt opposite Waitrose. Lunch Box gives a non-judgmental
welcome inviting people into a short period of refuge from
their challenging lives.

LIFE
SKILLS
Our
Life-skills Coordinator runs courses and skills sessions
on a wide range of subjects such as computing, art classes,
cookery, gym and swimming sessions, relaxation, card making
etc

| GENESIS
VOUCHERS
Can be bought by the general public and given
to those begging in the street as an alternative to money.
The vouchers can then be used to buy food at our projects
(Lunch Box, Sunday Centre etc) or towards the Julian House
Night Shelter. Vouchers are available from The Wood Works,
Genesis Charity Shops, Furniture Project, Manvers Street
Coffee shop, Bath Abbey Bookshop and Wesley Owen Bookshop.

| LIFELINE
CENTRE
The Lifeline Centre opened in July 2003 and
is proving to be a highly successful project, people can
pop in have a cup of tea and chat about any problems they
may have The vast majority of our clients have mental health
or addiction issues. Typically these are problems concerned
with finding secure accommodation, avoiding eviction and
problems associated with addiction.
The centre is run by Gloria Ware the Lifeline Centre Manager
and twelve volunteers. They work very closely with other
agencies and related professionals within Bath for example
such as the Mental Health, Psychiatric and emergency department
helping clients with immediate health problems. We have
an increasing number of ex prisoners using the Centre and
we work closely with Ashfield Prison.

THE SUNDAY CENTRE
The Sunday Center is based at Nexus Methodist
Church and is open from 1pm-5pm every Sunday of the year.
We offer a low cost Sunday lunch in a warm and friendly
environment and Sunday papers and games are available. The
Sunday centre is run by a rota of church teams.

| FURNITURE
PROJECT
The Furniture Project is open 10am-4.30pm
Monday-Friday and sells donated furniture and household
goods from its Oldfield Park Warehouse in West Avenue near
Moorland Road. We can collect and deliver free of charge
within a ten-mile radius of Bath. We have a large range
of items including fridges, freezers, cookers, linen, sofas,
beds, tables etc at low prices available to anyone on benefit.

|
| STREET
PASTORS is
a new project that will started in September 2008 and offers
support on the streets of Bath after midnight
on a Friday/Saturday. The city is full of young people trying
to have fun, yet can get themselves in very vulnerable situations
at times. Volunteers will patrol the streets in a team,
working alongside the police, door staff and other agencies,
listening, caring and helping those in need.
