Helping Genesis

.We help about 2500 people per annum with furniture, food, lifeskills, training, work placements, support and advice and we can only do this because of all the help we receive so if you can help us that would be fantastic.

If you are a church click here or a school or youth group click here or a business click here or a Grant or Trust click here. As an individual there are several ways to help:

BY GIVING A DONATION
If you want to make a significant difference to the lives of people battling with poverty in Bath, then we would be really grateful of your donation however small. Click for a gift aid formor click to donate through CAF
GIVE AN ALTERNATIVE PRESENT
you can buy a selection of presents with the proceeds directly benefiting clients of the Genesis Trust. There are four presents available: Life skills sessions, Access to Rehab, Lifeline Centre and Wood Works Training click below for further details

PAYROLL GIVING

This  is one of the most direct and convenient ways to donate regularly to the Genesis Trust.  Providing your employer offers a payroll giving scheme you can give a regular amount straight from your monthly or weekly income. If you are in the UK, because the pledged amount is deducted before PAYE tax, the donation is tax-free for you and the tax you would have paid goes to the charity instead.

What this means is if you pledge to give £10 a month and pay tax at 22% what it actually costs you is £7.80. The benefit is even greater if you pay tax at 40%.

HOW TO SET UP PAYROLL GIVING

Your employer should have payroll giving set up as an option from the payroll department.  If not it is easy for them to set up.They will need to get in touch with a payolll giving organisation to set it up properly. We have already set it up at Genesis and it was very straightforward.

Once it is set up you will need to let your payrill department know

how much you want to give and the frequency, Most importantly, you will need to let them know the name of the charity you wish to donate to The Genesis Trust and the charity number

BECOMING A VOLUNTEER

Our  projects always need volunteers whether helping in the Wood Works at our charity shops, listening at Lifeline or cooking at Lunch box please click here to see what volunteers we currently need
HAVE A CLEAR OUT !

Are you looking for a new and unique way to support The Genesis Trust  Now you can sell an item on eBay and donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale price to help us provide services for the homeless and people on low incomes in Bath Clean out that closet or loft - you can sell practically anything on eBay and donate a percentage of your proceeds to The Genesis Trust
How Does It Work? eBay has partnered with MissionFish, a not for profit service provider, to create the eBay for Charity fundraising programme which makes it easy for charities to benefit from trading on eBay. While listing an item on eBay you can choose to donate a percentage, or all, of your item's final selling price to The Genesis Trust. Your item will feature a charity ribbon, our name and logo and the percentage you are donating so that buyers know that they are supporting a worthy cause.

To start:
1. Visit http://www.ebay.co.uk/ebay-for-charity
2. Register for your eBay and MissionFish seller accounts
3. Choose an item to sell

Cookery Book Have you a favorite recipe?

With the increase in convenience foods we realise a lot of our clients need some inspiration in making cheap, nutritious meals. So we are putting together an economy recipe book to give out to clients and to sell to raise funds. If you have a tried and tested recipe, which is good value, we would love to include it in our book. Please send all contributions, together with a contact phone number to: Sarah Thorn, 1-3 James Street West, Bath, BA1 2BX or email sarah@genesistrust.org.uk.

A volunteers testimony:
Why do I help at the Furniture Project?

"On retirement from teaching, I didn’t know what I was going to do. One Sunday I went to the village church instead of my own church and was reflecting on what next? After the service Gordon came up to me and asked if I would like to help with the project now I had time on my hands?! So that’s why I have been involved with the project for the last 4 years and I am certain it was the right decision - well it would be would’t it?!"

Yes, it really IS fun!
