Life skills - Painting and Personal Development Project
The Genesis Trust have been running an on going course where clients are given the
opportunity to learn simple painting skills for woodwork - theory, preparation and
paint application.
Each participant has undertaken their own individual project where they work under
their own initiative (with help where required) to obtain an item and resources,
prepare and paint the surface and then sell or make use of the item.
Other main objectives are to develop soft skills - i.e. team work, confidence, problem
solving and motivation and also to develop leadership and mentoring skills.
View the following video clip to see a set of photos from the project.
Furniture Project: Partnering with “Students in Free Enterprise” at University of Bath
Students from SIFE worked alongside Jamie, our Furniture Project Manager to help market and publicise the Furniture Project as part of their university project. They produced customer questionnaires and new leaflets with the Furniture Project’s new opening times (Monday to Friday, 9.15am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm).
Showcasing our work across Bath

Voted official charity for the Bath International Music Festival’s Party in the City event and showcasing our clients’ stories work at “On the Edge of Life: Labyrinth of Candles” event at St Michael’s Without, we raised over £1200!
Clients’ work from Life Skills courses and Wood Works were also displayed at this year’s “Think Different” exhibition at Bath Abbey.

up-cycles old jumpers into cushion covers
Huge thanks goes to Nina Camacho, a student at Bath Spa University who led a limited-edition workshop to transform old jumpers into cushion covers. The workshop which was held in April was a huge success and some cushions were even sold at the On the Edge: Labyrinth of Candles event at St Michael’s Without in June.
Bath Half 2012 Marathon
We had a fantastic turnout during this year’s fundraising event.
Here are some photos of some of our amazing volunteers:
Life Skills: Soup School with Bath Soup Co
Eight Genesis Life Skills clients had the privilege of taking part in Bath Soup Co’s new pilot, Bath Soup School. Working alongside many local organisations, they learnt how to make soup, bread, completed a Level 2 in Health and Hygiene and then went onto work placements at Jacob’s Coffee House, National Trust’s Prior Park and St Michael’s cafe.
